"The setting sun sparkles through the crumbling wood of an ancient barn near Douglas on the Waterville Plateau in Washington state. The plateau is a vast, mostly flat expanse of farmland towering nearly 2,000 feet above the nearby Columbia River. The region is known for its fascinating geological features, ancient abandoned homesteads, and expansive views.
