"Julie and I were visiting the Methow Valley in mid-December for a quick birthday getaway. We were lucky to be there when the weather conditions were just right to create these prickly ice crystals. They were encrusting everything!

I was especially taken by these prickly, crystal-encrusted leaves. They look quite fearsome but are really very fragile."
